EDI – Swedish Customs Signature Certificate
Observe that most companies need two types of signature certificates from Swedish Customs for the EDI communication, the Company Signature Certificate and the Swedish Customs Signature Certificate. The information on this page applies to the Swedish Customs Signature Certificate, not your Company Signature Certificate.
The Swedish Customs Signature Certificate, which we use to sign messages that we send to your company, is replaced annually. The replacement is normally done during March or April and a new Swedish Customs Signature Certificate is published at least a month before the replacement.
The Swedish Customs Signature Certificate will be replaced March 19, 2024, at 12.00 PM UTC.
This means that the new certificate must be installed in your company’s system before that time.
Observe that the current Swedish Customs Signature Certificate must remain in your system until your company has downloaded and verified the signature in all documents signed by Swedish Customs up to and including March 19, 2024.
The validity period for the new signature certificate is 14 months.
Downloading the certificate is only needed for EDIFACT messages, not XML messages
To validate the signatures in EDIFACT messages from Swedish Customs, the Swedish Customs Signature Certificate must be downloaded separately as it is not included in the EDIFACT messages.
To validate the signatures in XML messages from Swedish Customs, however, the Swedish Customs Signature Certificate does not need to be downloaded separately, as it is sent with each XML message. It is enough to download Swedish Customs' root and intermediate certificates.

Technical details regarding the EDIFACT data elements "Key name” and “Certificate reference” in AUTACK
The data elements ”Key name” and ”Certificate reference” in the AUTACK message are used to decide which signature certificate that has been used. These values can be calculated automatically by the customs management systems, but there may be systems where these values must be registered manually.
