Other approved location
Alternative approved locations are approved locations where goods may be stored while under the temporary storage procedure. To operate other approved locations, you must submit an application to Swedish Customs. Swedish Customs will then issue a decision about an other approved location.
Code: TVAGP
The purpose of an alternative approved location is to be able to rapidly disperse the goods. Goods may be stored for a maximum of three days, or six days if the goods have been declared under the transit procedure by an authorised consignee at the place.
You cannot move goods stored at an alternative approved location. You are also allowed to store Union goods at the location.

Who is eligible for an alternative approved location authorisation?
For Swedish Customs to decide on an alternative approved location, the applicant must meet the following conditions:
- The company must be established in the customs territory of the Union.
- The company must provide the necessary guarantees for the proper conduct of the business.
- The company must provide a guarantee (there is a possibility of derogation or reduction of the guarantee).
- The location must not be used for retail sales.
- Where the goods to be stored present a danger or are likely to spoil other goods or for other reasons require special facilities, the site must be specially equipped for such goods.
- The place should be operated exclusively by the person who receives a decision on an other approved location.
- Swedish Customs should be able to exercise customs supervision without requiring administrative arrangements that are not in proportion to the economic needs involved.
Enabling customs supervision
In order to enable the customs authorities to carry out customs supervision and to enable the person storing the goods to ensure that they do not escape customs supervision, the holder should be able to keep records, for example by means of record keeping, of the goods placed in and removed from an other approved location.
How to apply
Apply by completing and printing the form. An authorised company signatory should sign the form, the original copy of which should be sent to Swedish Customs.
What happens once you receive your authorisation?
Any terms that apply to your company are provided in the decision. This includes the following information:
- The decision is only valid for the economic actor that is indicated as the operator of the location. The holder must fulfil the obligations arising from the authorisation and ensure that goods in temporary storage do not escape customs supervision.
- The place may only be used for the goods specified in the decision.
It is important to read and understand the terms and conditions that apply across all types of authorisations.

Transitional solution
It is currently not possible to submit temporary storage declarations concerning an alternative approved location digitally. Swedish Customs has therefore designed a transitional solution, which will be used to submit declarations until digital declarations are available.
