Pharmaceutical products used at international sports events

You may import pharmaceutical products to use at international sports events in the EU free of customs duty and VAT.

This applies to pharmaceutical products that will be used by persons or animals coming from third countries. You may only import such quantities as are necessary for your needs during your stay in the EU.

Keep in mind that there are special regulations for those who travel and bring medicines with you for personal use.

How to apply for duty and VAT exemption

You apply for duty-free treatment in one of the following ways:

Submit a declaration by going to a customs office and getting help to register the data in our import system. To speed up the process, there is a form that you can fill in in advance and bring to the customs office (see below).

Contact a customs representative who applies for duty-free treatment in the import declaration.

Manage your import declaration yourself

If you choose to handle your customs declaration yourself, you can provide the information on a simplified form and lodge it at a customs office where a customs officer will help you enter the declaration into our import system.

You can find the places where we are located and our addresses on the page Customs clearance offices.
