The declarant draws a transit declaration and lodges it digitally to Swedish Customs.
A declarant may also engage an agent, who will handle their communications with Swedish Customs. The agent acts on behalf of the declarant.
At the earliest, a pre-lodged transit declaration can be submitted 30 days prior to transiting the goods.

Swedish Customs receives the transit declaration and verifies that the information is correctly entered.

  • In the event of errors, the customs declaration will be stopped. A message will be sent to inform the declarant that the transit declaration cannot be processed.
  • If the information is correct, a message will be sent to the information provider to inform the declarant that the transit declaration has been received.

In the next step, the system verifies the information.

  • If there are any errors in this information, a message will be sent to inform the declarant of the identified errors. The declarant will be given an opportunity to amend the errors and re-submit the transit declaration.

If the information is correct, a message will be sent to the information provider to inform the declarant that the transit declaration has been received.

The declarant receives the confirmation.

The declaration will be risk assessed. In the case of any risk indication, and if the declarant is AEO certified, the declarant will be informed that an inspection is scheduled.

The declarant receives the message.

If the transit declaration is not activated in 30 days, the transit declaration will be designated as not lodged. The declarant will be notified via digital message.

The declarant receives the rejection notification. Now the declarant knows that the declaration is no longer considered lodged. The declarant may now lodge a new declaration.

The declarant submits the activation notification within 30 days.

Swedish Customs receives the activation notification and the information in the message is validated against the previously lodged declaration.

An error message will be sent to the declarant if any errors are identified.

If the information is correct, an MRN is sent to the declarant

The declarant receives the MRN, adds the MRN to the vehicle declaration and requests to start the transit procedure at the declared customs office of departure.

A customs officer will determine whether to conduct an inspection. If an inspection is not conducted, any outstanding debt will be deducted from the declared guarantee.

The customs officer sets a time frame for the consignment and a message of release for transit is sent. The transport starts.

The declarant receives the release notification.
