General about buying goods in another country
Various rules apply to any goods you want to bring into Sweden. These rules depend on the type of goods and the country you are coming from.
From an EU country
You do not pay customs duty or tax when you bring goods into Sweden from another EU country.
From a country outside the EU
If you are bringing in goods from a country outside the EU and entering Sweden on an aircraft or ferry in commercial traffic, the value of goods you can bring in without paying duty and tax is SEK 5,000. If you are entering some other way, the value of goods you can bring in without paying any charges is SEK 3,500. The goods must always be carried personally. In addition to these goods, you can also bring in a certain allowance of alcohol and tobacco without paying duty or tax.
Buying alcohol while travelling abroad.
Buying tobacco or other nicotine-containing products while travelling abroad.
If the goods you want to bring in from a country outside the EU exceed the duty and tax-free allowance, you must declare them to Swedish Customs when you enter Sweden. You will have to pay duty, VAT and any other taxes. To declare goods, choose the red lane in the surveillance area. The lane is marked “Goods to declare”.
