Transition to NCTS, Release 5 – What will happen before and after the transition?

How will declarations be processed in Release 4 and 5 of NCTS, respectively, after the transition?

Creating a new transit movement after the transition.

All new declarations should be filed in NCTS, Release 5, after the transition.

New declarations in NCTS, Release 4, (IE015B) will be rejected.

Declarations of goods presented in NCTS, Release 4, prior to the transition.

Declarations of goods presented in NCTS, Release 4, (IE007A) should be discharged in NCTS, Release 4.

Arrival notification of transit movements after the transition.

Transit movements initiated in countries other than Sweden

After the transition to NCTS, Release 5, all transitions starting in countries other than Sweden should be declared in NCTS, Release 5 (IE007C).

Any attempt to submit an arrival notification of a foreign transit movement in NCTS, Release 4, (IE0007A) will be rejected with the error message IE008A and the following reference:

FTX+ARR+++Invalid IE007 Message'
FTX+AAO++12+Transition-Phase5/Flag is Set'.

Swedish transit movements

Arrival notifications of Swedish (national) transit movements initiated in NCTS, Release 4, should be made in NCTS, Release 4 (IE007A).

The 17th character in the MRN indicates the release used to initiate the customs transaction in Sweden:

  • The 17th character in MRNs initiated in NCTS, Release 4, will be 0-9 or A-F.
    Example: 23SE60334210051EF8
  • The 17th character in MRNs initiated in Release 5 is J (or, in exceptional cases, K, L or M (in the case of security and safety information)).
    Example: 23SE6033420DPWXDJ1
