Goods transport and storage
The new customs legislation which entered into force on 1 May 2016 changes the procedures for presentation notification of means of transport and goods. The procedures for temporary storage will also change.
Regardless of the means of transport, notification should be given to Swedish Customs digitally.

Entry summary declaration
The changes regarding entry summary declarations will be introduced in several phases.
Arrival notification for means of transport
When the new import procedure has been fully implemented, arrival notifications for means of transport entering the customs territory of the Union should be given to the customs authority in cases of air and maritime transport.
Rail transport
From 1 october 2024, it will no longer be possible to retrospectively clear goods arriving by rail by e-mail. From 1 October, you will be required to either pre-lodge a customs declaration in the new import system or file a transit declaration.
Transit
An updated version of the New Computerised Transit System (NCTS) will be introduced on 1 September 2023.
Proof of Union Status – PoUS
A new system for Proof of Union Status (PoUS) will replace the previous paper-based system. The first release of the central interface will be implemented on 1 March 2023. PoUS is intended for digital management of Proof of Union Status.
